BQ5Q2988Liv Birgit Christensen is a professional genealogist specializing in Norwegian family history research. She presents workshops, classes, and webinars internationally on Norwegian genealogy. She is a panelist on Mondays with Myrt, a weekly webinar that gives “practical, down-to-earth advice for family historians”.

Other presentations include the webinars Norwegian Genealogical Study Group 1 and Norwegian Genealogical Study Group 2 with DearMyrtle (Pat Richley-Erickson) and Russ Worthington. They are free of use and can be found on YouTube. Christensen has also done webinars for Family History Expos, USA and The Surname Society in the UK. And she has done live video presentations for the Seattle Genealogical Society’s Scandinavian Interest Group. She has also done lectures and webinars in Norway.

Christensen has over 20 years of genealogical research experience in Norway and internationally. She helps people trace their family’s history in Norway, both from within the country and for those whose family immigrated to other countries. She has traveled with clients on Heritage travel and this has been covered by local newspapers. Christensen has offered courses locally in both Basic and More Advanced genealogy.

Christensen was a board member for THE Genealogy Show in Birmingham, UK, in June 7-8, 2019.  And she is board member from 2011 of the organization Friends of the local/Baerum library and President from 2015-2019. They work to make the politicians upheld and increase the library-services in the municipality with 127.000 inhabitants.

Traveling in Norway, Christensen visits the local libraries and archives in her the hunt in giving her clients a richer story. She specializes in her grandparents’ home counties, establishing provenance of family heirlooms, identifying persons and places in photographs, and discovering DNA proof of lineage. She has published articles on genealogy in local and national publications.

Christensen is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. She is also a member of the largest Norwegian genealogical society Slekt og Data, and the local organisations Ullern, Røa og Bygdøy Historielag, Øyer og Tretten historielag, Oppdal Historielag and Beitstaden Historielag.
