Liv Birgit Christensen is a professional genealogist specializing in Norwegian family history research. She presents workshops, classes, and webinars internationally on Norwegian genealogy. Recent presentations include the webinars Norwegian Genealogy Study Group 1 and 2, with DearMyrtle (Pat Richley-Erickson) and Russ Worthington – practical, down-to-earth advice for family historians. She has done a live video presentation for the Seattle Genealogical Society on Important web pages/sources for Norwegian Research. She has also done lectures about How to search in The Digitale Archive, how to find more information about your family and genealogical research – what is possible to find concerning your own family.
She is a board member and will be a presenter for the upcoming THE Genealogy Show in Birmingham, UK, June 7-8, 2019. The board consists of an international group of genealogists, led by Kirsty Gray and Sylvia Valentine (Show Directors). The other board members are DearMYRTLE (Pat Richley-Erickson), Jill Ball (Australia), Ruth Blair (Canada), Mags Gaulden (Canada), John Boeren (Netherlands) and DM Walsh (UK).
Christensen has over 20 years of genealogical research experience in Norway and internationally. She helps people trace their family’s history in Norway, both from within the country and for those whose family immigrated to other countries.
She is a president of the organization Friends of the local/Baerum library. They work to make the politicians upheld and increase the library-services in the municipality with 125.000 inhabitants.
Traveling in Norway, Christensen visits the local libraries and archives in her the hunt for giving her clients a richer story.
Christensen is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. She is also a member of the largest Norwegian genealogical society Slekt og Data, and the local organisations Ullern, Røa og Bygdøy Historielag, Øyer og Tretten historielag, Oppdal Historielag and Beitstaden Historielag.
