Sylvia is an experienced family historian and expert on Poor Law and records related to this. She is currently working on her PhD and enthusiastic about the field of Poor Law. As we know, when the records are scarce, and if the person is poor, we can get a rich glimpse into their lives by studying the records for the poor.
Sylvia has presented at national events both in the US and Canada, and at many history societies in the UK. She is a resident of Yorkshire and does her PhD work at the University of Dundee. Her thesis is called Opposition to Compulsory Vaccination in Scotland 1864 – 1914.
